The BEST 7th Episode Ever : "The Giver of Stars" by Jojo Moyes
Updated: Apr 16, 2020
Have you ever had a conversation in your head and you think through lots of scenarios but then when it happens in real life, it's not what you expected at all? WELL...that's pretty much what happened! My friends like to keep me on my toes and I love them for it. This book had a lot going on and we, I believe, covered most of the bases. We laughed till we cried, threw death and infertility around like they aren't sensitive subjects. Took time to press into what it looks like to fail and why it's important, shared dreams, some superficial some serious. To top it off we may have had a political debate about what it looks like for women to be eligible for Office (it got cut b/c it was too long and maybe a little heated but we ended up all being on the same page :-D). Most importantly this podcast episode was a reminder to all four of us that what we're doing matters. We are richer and our relationships deeper b/c we are allowing each other space to think and share and breathe through our thoughts and feelings on any number of subjects. We pushed past the frustration and the desire to just "let it go" and came out the other side knowing each other more clearly. I say this not to toot our horn but to encourage whoever is listening or reading to find your people and keep plugging along even when it gets awkward! One thing I loved about The Giver of Stars is the close-knit family they created for themselves and how they stood by each other's side even when things took an unimaginable turn. I hope you guys enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed recording it for you!
Be the BEST and go listen now or leave a comment, I love reading them!
Until next time,
Favorite quotes from the book

“...some things are a gift, even if you don't get to keep them.”
“There is always a way out of a situation. Might be ugly. Might leave you feeling like the earth had gone and shifted under your feet. But there is always a way around.”
